As we move into 2014, many of us take time to reflect and make resolutions. This year I did not plan any resolutions. Instead I am deciding how I want to feel in 2014 and the experience I want to be having and that means breaking up with the things that no longer serve me and what I want.
So the major one the list is to break up with stress and worry. Especially the way it can control my life, affect my health and prevent me from getting what I want. Want to join me? As an expert in lifestyle, nutrition and stress I know that this is something that does not go away, it is something we must constantly work at, sort of like a practice. Keeping yourself cool, calm and collected amongst the chaos is an art.
To get started I suggest writing your own break up letter to stress. This helps say “sayonara” to the way you let stress run your life and puts you back in control to move forward to getting what you want and the experience you want to be having.
Here is my break up letter to stress:
Dear Stress,
I understand that you thought you were trying to help me in some way but it is time for me to tell you that I am through with you. I am tired of you controlling me and running my life. Making me tense in my shoulders, running me down and making me exhausted while lowering my immunity so I get sick. You have messed up my hormones, caused adrenal fatigue, acne and excess weight and I won’t have it any more. Stop making me feel too busy to be productive, causing me to get distracted and disconnected. No more will you cause me to feel frantic, busy and overwhelmed, or worry about things beyond my control. I do not need you in my life. It’s over.
From now on I am in control. I will breathe through my anxiety and focus on what is important in my life. I know you will never fully go away but I will use the tools I have learned to keep you at bay even when your chaotic situations arise. I won’t let you affect me, my mind or my health. I have moved on to a calm and relaxed state where you are no longer welcome. I am at ease and can manage successfully on my own. I am much happier without you. Goodbye.
Love, Gina
